Wandered into the village to meet a friend who was cycling around the area. In need of refuelling we stopped at the recently opened tea rooms for coffee and a sandwich. The bacon sandwich she ordered was very big, with approx three rashers of bacon, nicely cooked and in a soft brown roll. I cannot remember how much she said it was, but we both had some, so I guess you could consider it good value. The coffees were nice (flat white and Americano with milk on the side) though at almost £3 each and being on the small size, not particularly good value. Flat white and Americanos are usually served in large, wide rimmed cups, of decent depth. These however, were served in cups more akin to large espresso cups! I don’t think this was a simple error, as our second order had the same size cups (albeit I ordered tea). As the tea rooms are relatively new, they maybe aren’t familiar with what cup a particular drink is served in. Will give them the benefit of the doubt and visit them again in the future. They have around a dozen indoor seats and at the time of our visit, had two tables of four outside on the very wide pavement. There lies the problem in Stamford Bridge. The main coast road (A166) passes straight through the village and crosses the River Derwent by a single carriageway bridge controlled by lights. This unfortunately means that there is almost always stationary traffic adjacent to the seating area. Such a shame as it would be an idyllic village if not for this. Mmhh, maybe East Riding Council should have made it a planning condition for the 1000 new homes just built, to build another river crossing... maybe one day we’ll get our quiet village back ☺️
Turned up on a Sunday morning with seven other cyclists, and couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome. Excellent food and service. Highly recommended. Thank you.
Stopped here on our Way Of The Roses bike ride and was great - staff opened early for us, used the menu as a base and modified the food as we’d asked as well as creating a great atmosphere. The food was also great quality and fantastically priced!! If we’re ever in the area again, it’s a guaranteed stop!
Good value tearooms with full English breakfast for 4.95, for example. There’s 5 odd tables indoors, and they serve breakfast, homemade soup, homemade quiche, sausage rolls, steak pie, sandwiches, tea cakes, scones and the lime. It’s decent stuff. Coffee was ok too.
Had a great cup of coffee with friendly service, good selection of home made cakes. Good value and would recommend
